I confirmed 19 boys of the Cathedral School in the Lady Chapel. It was an impressive service, but I fear my address was rather over their heads. Private Mellor came to see whether he could be usefully employed in the Palace Garden. I promised to let him know whether he would be wanted. Ella and I motored to Bridstow, & had tea with Archdeacon Winnington–Ingram. I did not, however, get much assistance from him.
