1204th day

I wrote a sermon for use in Leeds on Friday when I have undertaken to preach in aid of some organisations of girls' clubs which Mrs Barran presides over. Also I wrote a number of letters including one to Ernest. I attended Evensong, and went for a short walk. After dinner I read through the Lecture on the Fire of London, (originally written for the Newcastle Lit: & Phil) which I have promised to deliver in Leeds.

The papers report the deaths of Neil Primrose, Lord Rosebery's younger son, and of Sir Stanley Maude, who is in command of the British army in Mesopotamia. The last is very regrettable on public grounds.

I must note George's address for the next two letters which must go off on the 24th and 30th respectively to c/o. Cotts & Co. Capetown, who would appear to watch the interests of S.S. Titan.
