1145th day

Bright sun and a brisk wind when I went to the Cathedral at 8 a.m. The Bp. of Jarrow has returned. I finished the 2nd sermon for Spennymoor, & wrote more letters. Hadow writes to say that he has been asked to go to France at a few hours' notice on Government business. I attended Evensong, & then walked for an hour with the Bishop of Jarrow. The wind fell during the afternoon, & the evening was calm & splendid. I wrote to Carissima & to George. Also to Ernest.
