George came in about 11 a.m., and spent the morning with me in clearing up everything by way of preparation for my departure tomorrow. I wrote to Reichel declining his proposal to go to a Welsh coast–place with him. Also I wrote to Canon Boot declining his invitation to preach on Oct: 28th. I attended Mattins & Evensong: walked with Bishop Quirk: and, falling in with Lord Coleridge & Liddell, took them to see the Deanery, with which they professed themselves much interested.
