959th day

I spent the afternoon in preparing notes for my speeches. Then I went into Leeds, & lunched with the Club. After the meal, I addressed the company on "Objections to Prohibition as a settled policy". Cook, a former curate of St Margts, Westr, accompanied me to the station. I went to Bradford, and addressed a great meeting of Wesleyans, assembled for the anniversary of their Mission. Dr Hunter from Glasgow was among the speakers. He said that his eldest son, a young man of 22, had been killed in the Battle of the Somme. There was an overwhelming predominance of women in the audience.
