Very warm and wet: but the weather steadily improved and finally was sunny and calm. I started on the preparation of the Lecture on F. W. Robertson by reading carefully his 'Life & Letters'. We lunched with Mrs Watkins who was entertaining Lady Londonderry (dowager) and her grand–daughter. I shewed the latter over the Deanery, & (hastily before service) round the Cathedral. Also, I gave Lady L. a copy of 'War–time Sermons". I wrote to M. Loisy thanking him for "Guerre et Religion", and to Carnegie, accepting his invitation to preach on Feb: 6th.
