452nd day

The morning post brought me two little books of unusual interest: Pearce's "William de Colchester, Abbot of Westminster", and Galton's translation of Loisy's book on "The War & Religion". The one is a creditable piece of research; the other is a brilliant reflection on current events. I wrote another letter to the "Challenge": and did little else but read for my own amusement. Also I attended Evensong, and afterwards walked for an hour. Then Gee called & talked for awhile. After dinner I wrote letters.
