380th day
Bryce & his wife went off after breakfast: and I tried quite vainly to do some work. After lunch Olive pulled me out for a walk with her and Walter. The day was beautiful: the country after the rains looked glorious: we walked for two hours with much delight, and returned just in time to receive Archdeacon & Mrs Spooner, arriving from Lincoln for a short visit. The war–news continues to be disastrous. Tonight we hear that Kovno has fallen: & that the Germans have made immense captures of guns & munitions of war. Another air–raid on the East coast is also reported.
