The Article threatens to reach a dead–lock: & I fear it must be given up. How to be uncontroversial in handling such a theme is really beyond me! I attended Evensong, &, when I came out, found Gerald Marshall arriving. We spent the time till dinner in seeing the house, and then in walking round Houghall Wood.
