240th day
Bright but very cold. I attended service at 8 a.m., & received the Holy Communion. After breakfast I worked at my Easter day sermon: & then wrote a few lines to Mary, consoling her with the reflection that the safest time for traversing the narrow seas was immediately after some successful coup by the German submarines. Ella & I attended the funeral service of Mr Ornsby in Bow Church. There was a very large gathering of men. Afterwards I attended Evensong, & then resumed work on the sermon. Fearne Booker came here for the night.
