I telegraphed to the Sectaries at Hull that I should not attend their meeting tonight as I had intended. Then I resumed work on my sermons being interrupted by a visit from the Mayor & an Officer from the 'Pals' who came to make arrangements for Sunday's function. Both the Precentor & the Sacrist being absent: I myself went to the printer & gave instructions for the printing of a service paper. I attended Evensong in the Cathedral.
