Lord Durham dined quietly with us before the meeting in the Town Hall. The Hall was crowded. Colonel Blackitt spoke dully and too long. Then Lord Durham followed: and then I came, & Rogerson. The wetness of the weather may have been the cause of a certain flatness & depression, which hung over the proceedings.
