Friday, May 15th, 1914.

Mr & Mrs Hovey Clarke, who entertained us very kindly at Minneapolis last year, arrived in their motor–car about 11.30 a.m. I shewed them over the Cathedral. In the afternoon we motored to the blue–bells, which in the evening lights were amazingly beautiful. Pearce & his sister arrived during the afternoon. At dinner also came Cruickshank & his wife, Dennett, & Brown (the Economic lecturer from Hatfield).
