Friday, February 20th, 1914.

I motored to Sunderland, and in the Rectory addressed 30 clergy on 'The formation of a clergyman's Library'. I presented the company with 25 copies of my Lee Lecture. Then I dined with Mr Squance, the Auditor, a bookish man with books of his own. He & his wife accompanied me to the Subscription Library Theatre, where I addressed a meeting in the interest of the "Guild of Help".

I motored back to Durham, arriving about 9.30 p.m.
