I left Durham by the 9.50 a.m. train, & reached Oxford (changing only at Banbury, where I left my umbrella in the train!) at 4.15 p.m. At Sheffield Archdeacon Allen & another parson came into the carriage. Both were coming to Oxford to vote for the statute. A violent deluge of rain welcomed us to the University!
There was a pleasant party dining in Hall, including the Warden, & the agreeable junior fellow whose acquaintance I made last time I came into college. Somervel, I think, by name.
