18th Sunday after Trinity, October 15th, 1911.

A dull morning with something more than threatenings of rain. I celebrated at 8 a.m. in S. Margaret's. There were 28 comts all women save the clergy, Ramsay, Noel Masters, & one young man unknown.

There was a large congregation in St Margaret's at 11 a.m. I preached on the words: "Remember Lot's wife".

The Abbey was very full. I preached wearily for the day was close, & I was tired.

At 6.30 p.m. I went to the Harvest Festival in S. Mark's Kennington, & preached again. There was an immense congregation, & the service was very hearty. But I was annoyed before service by being urged to secure preferment for one of the Curates! This everlasting preferment talk drives me mad.

Baddeley & his sister, Miss Graham, Bob Bineham, Capt: & Mary Scott, Linetta, & Gilbert made up the party at supper.
