2nd Sunday after Epiphany, January 15th, 1911.
A bitter frost with yesterday's fog still hanging in the air.
There was but a small congregation at the morning service in the Abbey. Cecil preached to them rather a wild & whirling sermon on the Epiphany. He left after the prayer for the Church Militant in order to preach at the Chapel Royal.
In the afternoon I preached to a large congregation my second sermon on "Christianity & the Citizen's duty." The concluding part of my discourse, in wh. I illustrated the main thesis by referring to the question of Divorce, I sent to the "Times".
At Evensong in St. Margaret's the Church was well filled. I preached on Acts IX. 1,2. explaining the significance of the earliest description of Christianity as "The Way".
George Mackarness, Harold, Gilbert, Linetta, & Mary were at supper.
