A dull day winding up with rain. There was nothing of note at the morning session. The speakers were on the whole above the average. This, perhaps, was not surprising as they were all Presidents of educational institutions. A humourist emerged in Dr S.P. Brooks, President of Baylor University, Texas. In the afternoon we drove till the rain turned us back.

The last session was dignified by the presence of MrBryce, who made a most suitably cautious speech: and by a frankly pro–British speech from MrAlfred Moseley. DrLyman Abbott spoke excellently in returning thanks to MrSmiley. Mrs Bray, the wife of the Editor of the Chantanquan, introduced herself to us – a handsome & amiable woman enough. Lyman Abbott exchanged a few words in a friendly manner: & then we went off to bed.
