The 'Times' announces that the Bishop of Southwell has declined the Abpk of Capetown.
Ella & I motored to Chigwell, where we lunched with the Marsdens, & afterwards went on to Barking, where we visited the parish church, which for seven years was the scene of my constant preaching.
Various improvements have been made & several stained glass windows introduced. We returned home about 5 p.m.
I dined with the Gows. Mrs J. R. Green & Miss Haldane were among the guests: also Dr & Mrs Boevy & Mr & Mrs Walpole from Lambeth.
