15th Sunday after Trinity, September 8th, 1907.
A close, stifling night followed by a dull warm morning. Harold and Dennis went to Holy Communion at S. Margaret's: but I reserved myself for the Abbey at 10.a.m.
There was a large congregation. Smythe Palmer preached a sermon which would have been good, if it had been audible. There were 79 comts.
I preached an old sermon on 'The Ministry of the Prophets' to a very large congregation.
George Mackarness brought his lady love to see me after the service. Miss Dawson is pretty & well–mannered, but looks very delicate. Also Colonel & Mrs Challener came to return my visit of last Sunday.
Sherwood preached to another great congregation in the Abbey at 7 p.m.: and afterwards came in to supper.
