Passion Sunday, April 1st, 1906.

I celebrated in the Abbey at 10.a.m. Dr Charles preached an excellent sermon from the words, – "Whatever man soweth, that shall he also reap".

Col. Gore–Booth, Dr & Mrs Charles, Watson, & Kirshbaum came to lunch.

I preached in the Abbey at the afternoon service. My text was S. Luke V. 33–36: and my subject "Fasting". There was a very large congregation, and there was close attention throughout a sermon which took 35 minutes to deliver.

At Evensong there was a large congregation in S. Margaret's, and I preached rather wearily.

Custard, Smart, Albert, Miss Jeffcock, Sherwood, Walters came in to supper.
