4th Sunday after Epiphany, February 1st, 1903.

My long residence at the Abbey being now ended, I went to S. Margaret's for the Celebration at 8 a.m. There were but 20 communicants.

At Mattins there was a moderate congregation; I preached on 'Christianity, the Climax of Theism'.

In the afternoon I went to the Oxford House, and gave the first of three lectures on "Has Christianity Failed?" The first sub-subject was "The Challenge of Reason". I discoursed for 3/4 of an hour to a fair audience of men, & afterwards answered some comparatively relevant questions.

Edwin Saxton & Harold Knowling accompanied me, & seemed much impressed with the Oxford House.

Kirshbaum preached an excellent sermon at Evensong.
